David Attwooll

It is with great sadness that David Attwooll’s family announce to those who may not have heard, that David died on Friday 5 August 2016. A celebration of his life is planned in Oxford for 22 April 2017.

Two River’s Press, fellow poet and artist, and David’s family are working on a collection of his poems to be published in autumn 2017.

The David Attwooll Memorial Fund is being created to promote young talent in the creative arts, and more details will be posted here soon. If you would like to donate or know more please use the contact form on this website

David Attwooll’s first full collection, The Sound Ladder, was published in April 2015 by Two Rivers Press. His work has appeared in several magazines and anthologies, and he was one of the winners of the 2013 Poetry Business pamphlet prize with Surfacing (smith/doorstop). He has also published two pamphlets illustrated by Andrew Walton: Otmoor (Black Poplar 2016) and Ground Work (Black Poplar 2014).

Most recently, in October 2017, he was joint winner of the Canterbury Festival Poet of the Year award.

David lived in Oxford for the past 40 years where he worked in publishing and drummed in a street band.
